How Mitsubishi Ductless Systems Work
Like all heating and cooling systems, Mitsubishi mini splits use liquid refrigerant to absorb heat. To do this, an outdoor compressor pumps the refrigerant to an indoor air handler through thin tubes that run through your wall, allowing you to deliver heated or cooled air directly into your desired area without ductwork.

Top Benefits of Mitsubishi Electric Heat Pumps
Industry-Leading Energy Efficiency
Mitsubishi Electric ductless systems have been shown to use up to 50% less energy than traditional heating and cooling equipment. Plus, these units have a Coefficient of Performance (COP) factor of up to 4.68.
This is a measurement of the performance standards of products that use refrigerants. The higher the COP, the better since this translates to lower electric bills. For comparison, standard HVAC systems generally have a COP factor of less than 1.
Smaller Carbon Footprint
Energy efficiency does more than keep your operating costs low — it reduces the impact of fossil fuel use on the environment and provides cleaner heating and cooling year-round. Mitsubishi mini splits use ozone-friendly refrigerants and have zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP).
This measures a compound’s atmospheric lifetime and how much damage it can do to the earth’s ozone layer. That means that Mitsubishi heat pumps keep you comfortable without negatively impacting the ecosystem.
Whisper-Quiet Operation
You might have heard that heat pump technology is whisper-quiet, but what does that really mean? A normal speaking voice is around 60 to 70 decibels.
Moderate rainfall can be measured at around 50 decibels, while a quiet office or refrigerator humming clocks in at about 40 decibels. A human whisper is 30 decibels and the sound of a ticking watch or rustling leaves can be measured at around 20 decibels.
A Mitsubishi Electric system operates as low as 19 decibels, which is just above the sound of normal breathing. That’s quiet!
Healthier Air
According to the World Health Organization, pollution is a major health concern worldwide. Approximately 9 out of 10 people are currently breathing polluted air, and most of this happens indoors.
Mitsubishi ductless systems feature some of the most advanced air filters on the market to remove contaminants and allergens from your indoor space. These units use electrostatic enzyme technology to attract dust particles that regular filters are likely to miss.
Allergens become trapped inside the filter where the enzymes can decompose them. Catechin, a natural substance found in tea, has antibacterial and odor-removing properties and is also infused throughout the filter to deactivate unpleasant smells and eliminate them from your environment.
Excellent Cold Weather Performance
Mitsubishi mini splits have great cold weather performance, which is critical for home and business owners on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Most of these systems can continue to heat your space at 100% efficiency down to -13° Fahrenheit thanks to the brand’s Hyper-Heating technology.
Plus, Mitsubishi units that feature the 3D i-see Sensor® continuously scan your space to detect fluctuations in temperature and automatically adjust the compressor speed to deliver precise heating or cooling exactly where you need it.
