The Benefits of an Electrical Safety Inspection

What is an electrical safety inspection, and why should you get one?

Electrical safety inspections prevent fires, electrocution, and other electrical accidents. They also help ensure that your home is safe and that your wiring is up to code.

When to get an inspection

You should get an electrical inspection after remodeling, adding a new bathroom, repairing damage, or if you notice any of the signs (see below) that indicate a possible safety issue.

Schedule an Inspection:  Call 508-833-4822

Benefits of an electrical safety inspection:

  • Safety: Identify potential hazards like faulty wiring, overloaded circuits, and outdated electrical panels
  • Fire prevention: Reduce the risk of electrical fires, which are a leading cause of residential fires
  • Code compliance: Ensure that installers are following proper electrical codes
  • Cost savings: Regular inspections can save money in the long run by identifying issues before they escalate

Signs that there may be issues with your electrical system include:

  • A fishy smell from your electrical panel or outlets.  When wiring insulation starts to melt, it releases fumes that many people say smells “fishy.”  This odor is a serious sign of a potential electrical fire.  If you smell this, turn off the breaker(s) or the main if you aren’t sure which circuits are the problem, and call an electrician immediately.
  • Light bulbs burning out frequently.
  • Loose plugs.  If plugs are loose in the outlet, then the outlet probably needs to be replaced.
  • Noises or heat from your outlets, switches or panels.

At Cape Cod Heat Pumps we offer inspections that are guaranteed to diagnose any electrical problem or concern.   Call today!
