Mass Save currently offers Massachusetts homeowners a “whole home conversion” rebate of $10,000, regardless of the size of your home or system size, when you switch from fossil fuel heating (oil, propane, natural gas, even electric baseboard) to an efficient heat pump. For smaller homes, $10,000 could pay for most – if not all – of the cost of your system! But it appears the flat $10,000 rebate will be disappearing in 2025, replaced by a per-ton rebate, potentially reducing your savings by $$ thousands next year.
The difference could be $$ thousands
For example, a customer who needs a 24,000 BTU (2-ton) system to heat their home will qualify for $6,000 next year, and a 2.5 ton system will qualify for $7,500. But right now both qualify for $10,000 under the 2024 program.
